Programme Introduction
The EEE Department is the only department comprising CE, EE and ElecE in Hong Kong.
The department offers contemporary curriculum and stimulating learning experience for educating future leaders in EEE-related areas.
This programme’s contemporary learning process is designed to create well-rounded graduates with solid foundations through active learning, capstone experience, hands-on activities, internship, exchanges studies and service learning.
The curriculum encourages students to offer solutions to real life problems via design and innovation, and to foster and advocate entrepreneurship.
What You’ll Study
Students will study one of the following BEng programme:
• Computer Engineering (CE). The CE programme prepares students for the multidisciplinary field in software design, computer architecture, and hardware-software integration. The following are the up and coming hot areas for CE graduates:
- Ambient Computing;
- Big Data Processing;
- Robotic & Autonomous Systems.
• Electrical Engineering (EE). Electrical energy is the backbone of modern civilization. The aim of this programme is to educate students to become professional electrical engineers, power engineers and building service engineers to meet the societal needs. The core of the programme equips students with sound knowledge in power system, electric drives, renewable energy, electric railway, electric vehicle, computer applications and building automation. EE students can pursue the following fields after graduation:
- Smart Power Systems;
- Modern Electric Transportation;
- Intelligent Built Environment.
• Electronic Engineering (ElecE). ElecE involves a myriad of applications in modern society ranging from communications and information technology, mobile technology, electronic commerce and FinTech, microelectronics and photonics, integrated circuits (IC), electronics for artificial intelligence (AI), data mining in big data, etc. This programme has a synergy of both fundamental and core subjects and a wide range of electives to equip students to become professional engineers to meet the global needs for the modern society. ElecE graduates can further develop their interest in:
- Nanoelectronics;
- Next Generation Communications;
- Data and AI Systems.
Exciting Opportunities
Students will build solid foundations in engineering through active learning, capstone experience, hands-on activities, internship, exchanges studies and service learning, which prepares them to pursue any engineering discipline in their studies.
Professional Recognition
After graduation, you will be eligible to apply for professional recognition from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).
Career Prospects
The majority of BEng(CE/EE/ElecE) graduates will work in the engineering sector, with other students serving the societies in the business, education, social and community sector. Some graduates will pursue further studies in Hong Kong or overseas.
