Becoming an independent, diligent, culturally intellectual individual at HKU

Abhigyan Kashyap is a recipient of the HKU Foundation Scholarship and the Dean's Award for Engineering Students. With the supportive and encouraging scholarship, he has a colourful university life at HKU that shapes him into an independent, diligent, culturally intellectual individual.

"I am grateful that HKU provides me with a scholarship to support my studies at the university. I can feel my strong bond with HKU since my first visit in June 2019. I attended a camp activity and was amazed by the campus and facilities. I believe that the opportunity of studying at the university is invaluable."

Abhigyan is impressed by the numerous resources and opportunities that HKU offers. "HKU CEDARS always lends a helping hand whenever I need assistance in academic matters, personal concern and so on. As an Engineering student, I think it is a great pleasure to study at HKU iDendron, and the new Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing, which symbolises entrepreneurial and intellectual minds."

"Group projects are one of the most common tasks at HKU. We are provided with experiential learning that simultaneously prepares us for the workplace as we can only achieve success via teamwork. Meanwhile, Professors here also brought a personal touch to their lectures, and it helped a long way in understanding the principles and objectives of the lectures."

Abhigyan currently lives in New College, one of the residential colleges under HKU. "I am a committee member of the Music Club. I co-founded the Coding Club in New College as well. I would say organising various activities together with my friends and mates in clubs and societies not only allows me to cultivate new hobbies and interests, but it also gives me a powerful sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. That's what I treasure most."

Upon graduation, Kashyap wishes to work in Hong Kong for a couple of years and pursue a higher degree.
