Hoping to chase his dream in an international financial centre, Jounso Lee from South Korea has opted to study at HKU to pursue a Bachelor of Economics and Finance, as he believes that the city and the university will provide him with loads of growth opportunities.
"Being able to study in Hong Kong is the best thing I can ask for. It is even more rewarding to have such a pleasant study experience at HKU. Professors here are enthusiastic about teaching. Very often, I have actively engaged in group discussions with classmates where we inspire each other through the exchange of ideas."
Meanwhile, Jounso has been substantially benefitted from a diverse variety of internships offered by the university. "I have interned at a Korean Investment Bank. I can apply what I learnt in class into the valuation models for the bank, which is excellent preparation for my future career path in the financial industry. The internship experience has also aroused my interest in the field of hedge fund that can be a possible career direction."
Jounso is also an active member of the HKU Student Ambassador Scheme and St. John's College, where he has got the opportunity to broaden his horizons. "I am delighted to meet different people who have unique experiences, which gives me much inspiration and motivation. With the expanding network I build in Hong Kong, I plan to stay and work in an investment bank in the city after graduation."
