HKU offers excellent support for online learning during the pandemic

For Elvira Garcia, getting into HKU is a childhood dream comes true! It is the university's global reputation and diversity that attracted her to apply to HKU. Elvira's effort paid off when she got admitted to HKU as a recipient of the HKU Foundation Scholarship. Despite not being able to come to campus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she still has a pleasant online learning experience thanks to the university's flexibility in learning arrangements and excellent support for online learning during the pandemic.

"The university offers great support for online learning despite the pandemic. I was given the option to do online courses in Indonesia, and my professors have been accommodating. As I was unable to attend my field trip, one of my professors gave me the recording for me to get a feel and taste of it. How considerate he is!"

"My programme offers online consultation sessions, which I found extremely useful. Apart from academic consultation, professors and teaching assistants also advise us on internships and future career paths. It is worth noting that we also have a surveying camp which provides us with an invaluable opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of civil engineers."

Elvira is impressed by the diverse student body at HKU, which made it an excellent place for networking opportunities. "I am a member of Shun Hing College's swimming club, running club, and hiking club. I have made a lot of new friends from all around the world, namely from Africa, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Finland. Indeed, joining clubs is such a fantastic way to have fun with friends while staying fit!"

"After graduating from the university, I will work in Hong Kong for a few years before pursuing my Master's Degree. I believe that graduating from the University of Hong Kong means countless opportunities."
