Supporting a Student's Application
Counsellors or teachers who are tasked with supporting students' application to University may seek for access to the HKU Counsellors' Portal.
For counsellors with whom we have already connected in previous cycles, an email with your access and password will be sent to you when the system opens. If you need access to the counsellors' portal, please let us know here.
Counsellors can support your students by uploading your reference letter as well as the report on the applicants' performance onto the Counsellors' Portal. Applicants have been given detailed instructions on how to nominate you as their counsellor on the application system under this Step by Step Guide to Application. A system-generated email will be sent to you once an application naming you as a referee is submitted to HKU as a reminder.
If your students have significant financial difficulty in settling the application fees, please write to us via firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will be in touch on the next step for the application. Evaluation will be conducted on a case-by-case basis.
Application submitted by 12:00 noon (HKT) on this date through the application system will be considered for the First Round Evaluation. Shortlisted students may be invited to attend admissions interviews between November to January.
Please input any predicted and/or actual grades and submit any reference and supporting documents onto the application system by this date for students who would like to be considered for first-round evaluation. After this date, the counsellors' portal will remain open for uploads; counsellors are recommended to provide any predicted results / references within 1 week of receiving the invitation.
*For students applying to the MBBS programme, please provide the predicted or preliminary results or references by 27 November 2023.
Successful applicants may expect to receive an offer of admission from this date onwards, with a 3-to-4-week time to accept the offer of admission with a non-refundable deposit.
Students who applied by 15 November, 2023 but do not hear back by then may consider their application waitlisted. Their applications will be considered again in the next round of evaluation on a rolling basis.
Counsellors may input and update the student’s academic results through the counsellors’ portal and they will be taken into consideration in the next round of evaluation.
