In this programme, you will spend your first and second years in Hong Kong and your third and fourth years in California to earn two degrees over four years. You can choose to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Social Sciences from HKU and a Bachelor of Arts at the University of California, Berkeley upon successful completion of this four-year programme.

Successful applicants will automatically be considered for the HKU Foundation Entrance Scholarship, which may grant up to full coverage of tuition fees and living expenses. Learn more.
UC Berkeley
U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens may apply for and receive need-based financial aid through the Berkeley Financial Aid and Scholarships office during the two years at UC Berkeley.
Foreign nationals who will be studying at Berkeley through a visa can review the Berkeley International Office’s webpage on Financial Aid for International Students.
All students are admitted to the program as Freshmen (first-year students). Students may not transfer into the program. Applicants complete the HKU – UC Berkeley Supplemental Application and the standard UC application. Complete information on how to apply to UC Berkeley can be found here.
You must meet the general admission and programme-specific requirements for HKU and UC Berkeley. Please refer to the admissions requirements for each institution for more information. All applicants will be required to prove English language competency.

Please note that the supplemental application is for students who are interested in being considered for the Dual Degree program between the University of California, Berkeley and The University of Hong Kong (HKU). Supplemental Application Essay Question:
In 750 to 1,000 words, describe the motivations that have led you to apply to the Dual Degree program. Explain how and why the multidisciplinary educational environments at The University and Hong Kong (at the Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Social Sciences) and at Berkeley (within the College of Letters & Science) will help you to achieve your intellectual, personal, and professional aspirations. You may also choose to explain how you foresee your involvement in campus life outside of the classroom.
The essay should be written in English.
An online interview with shortlisted candidates will be carried out during the evaluation process.
Special note for Hong Kong students completing the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education: HKDSE students are also required to submit an application for the relevant bachelor degree programme at HKU via JUPAS.
