This entrance scholarship enables outstanding students from Nigeria with academic merit and financial need to pursue an undergraduate degree at HKU.
In 2017, a Hong Kong donor pledged money to launch an entrance scholarship for prospective undergraduate students from Nigeria. Having spent many years doing business in Nigeria, the donor opened the door for talented Nigerian students to receive a top-quality education at HKU. The scholarship is named in honour of the donor’s father, Hon Ping.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, financial hardship, disadvantage, and personal qualities. National qualifications are also considered. Eligible applicants must:
- Be a national of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
- Have applied for and been accepted to study a full-time undergraduate programme at HKU in the coming academic year
- Lack of the financial means to pay overseas undergraduate tuition fees at HKU
Scholarships cover full tuition fees and an annual living allowance of HK$246,000. Scholarships are tenable throughout your study period, ranging from four to six years, and are subject to satisfactory academic performance.
